Revolutionising exposure management

eCityRisk’s web-GIS internet-based visualisation and analysis tools provide the ability to plot and interrogate exposure data spatially. Displayed alongside high resolution digital aerial and satellite imagery, this contextual information captures a more accurate picture of where properties are insured, attributes such as insured values and occupany class, and their location relative to key risk factors. The visual simplicity of eCityRisk’s web-GIS can revolutionise exposure management.

Users gain the ability to understand exposure accumulation by actually seeing the risks plotted on a map, providing the most simple but effective way to analyse exposure management and assess the spatial diversity of a portfolio. This enables users to assess and understand their exposure accumulation and make better informed decisions on, for example, insuring more properties in a particular disaster zone versus diversifying into other territories.

eCityRisk’s pioneering web-GIS and modelling tools are essential for underwriters to help assess whether to take on new business in a particular hazard zone, having viewed existing exposure. eCityRisk’s Web-GIS and modelling tools also display details of new programmes under consideration, and enable advanced querying.

Furthermore, the ability to – at a glance – assess where the risks in a portfolio lie viewed on a map provides an objective challenge against modelled results. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) calls for independent validation against probabilistic outputs at all stages of the risk management process, and the industry is fast learning that the best approach is holistic, simple and – ultimately – accurate, incorporating real-world information.

Custom-fit solutions

eCityRisk’s web-GIS and modelling tools are developed around insurers day-to-day and strategic decision making needs. We therefore offer the option of a stand-alone web-application, or a custom-made extension to fit into existing in-house systems.

In designing your Google or Bing-based application, your Underwriters can choose from a range of in-built functionalities. At the press of a button, ways you can visualise and spatially interrogate your data include:

  • Highlight the locations of an existing portfolio close to (user selects radius) each of the locations for the programme being considered.
  • Colour code different occupancy types (eg hotels, refineries)
  • Display attributes for a selected location (eg: insured values; BI; policy ID; policy limit and excess)
  • Visualise the program under consideration within high resolution images
  • Overlay standard and User-defined hazard zones eg, FEMA flood zones, historic hurricane tracks
  • Highlight aggregate (portfolio plus new programme) in excess of X within any circle of radius Y as a result of adding the new programme.
