Disaster Response and Reconnaissance Services
Field Reconnaissance
Capturing a complete and accurate digital record
eCityRisk’s field reconnaissance service captures observation oriented data and is designed to help reinsurers and hedge fund managers obtain critical information about damage sustained by properties and high-value facilities, without the inconvenience, stress or cost of deploying their own personnel during a demanding and busy response period. With better damage and loss assessments within the first week after disaster strikes, clients are able to avoid the trap of making poorly informed capital management decisions, and the risk of publicly issuing an inaccurate initial loss estimate that is based unduly on catastrophe model results and needs to be revised significantly upwards.
Captured by our team of reconnaissance professionals, eCityRisk’s GPS-referenced aerial or ground-based images depict, in detail, the post-event status of high-value critical facilities and properties. Our observation oriented data is captured using our proprietary VIEWS™ data collection system. Developed by parent company ImageCat, VIEWS has been helping the insurance industry track post-event damage for major hurricanes, wildfires and floods since 2004.
Clients have the option to review the images in-house and request expert interpretation by eCityRisk’s team of engineers and remote sensing technicians. In this case, eCityRisk extracts damage state information from aerial and satellite reconnaissance images and converts it to GIS format for immediate integration with a portfolio of addresses for computing ground-up loss.
eCityRisk reconnaissance data are delivered pre-processed and formatted for the application of your choice (for example, Google Earth, ArcGIS).
